7132 Hotel Vals, Switzerland: A Design-Lover’s Dream

Filed in Hotel, Switzerland  /  October 19, 2024 /

Last autumn, my mum and I escaped to the mountains.
Just us two.
No deadlines. No noise. Just peace.

We drove deep into the Swiss Alps, where the air feels cleaner and the sky somehow wider.

And tucked between the peaks, at the end of the valley… 7132 Hotel.
Minimalist, elegant, and somehow alive in the silence.

luxury design hotel in Switzerland that redefines what quiet luxury feels like.

Oh, and if you’re wondering….. yes, the photos you’ve seen on my Instagram?
They’re REAL. This place is REAL.

Actually, it’s even more beautiful in person. ✨

The Arrival

We arrived in the late afternoon. Golden light spilling across the stone façade designed with that signature Peter Zumthor architecture that Vals is known for.
The first thing I noticed?
The quiet.

It’s not only the “no sound” kind of quiet.
It’s the kind that calms your thoughts the moment you walk in.

Check-in was smooth.
Warm smiles, soft voices, no rush.
Exactly what you want when your soul feels tired.

We opened the door to our room,
and both just stood there for a second.

Wide windows.
Mountain views.
Muted tones.
Everything simple, but so intentional.

The kind of room that makes you breathe deeper.

Our Room (Spa Deluxe Room 60sqm)

The design is everything I love: minimalism with soul. The essence of a true luxury design hotel Switzerland.
Stone, wood, light….nothing more, nothing less.

Mum made tea while I stood by the window, camera in hand.
I thought I’d start shooting right away… but I didn’t.

Some places ask you to pause first.
To feel before you capture.

And this was one of them.

The Thermal Baths

Let’s talk about the Therme Vals, connected to the hotel.

Built by architect Peter Zumthor, the structure is made of Valser quartzite (60,000 slabs of Vals quartzite to be exact).

The same stone you see in the surrounding mountains.

You walk down a staircase into the baths,
and suddenly… the world gets quieter.

Steam curling through the air, echoing water sounds,
light falling through tiny openings in the ceiling.

We floated there for what felt like hours.
No talking. Just peace.
I looked at my mum and thought…
this is one of my favourite luxury spa Switzerland.
Not diamonds. Not champagne.
Just stillness.

If you’re looking for a spa hotel in Switzerland that feels deeply restorative, this is the one.

Dinner

That evening, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Candlelight, soft jazz, and food that looked like art but tasted like comfort.

I swear the butter alone deserves its own Michelin star. 😂

We didn’t dine at the two-star restaurant 7132 Silver this time (next trip 😉),
but if you’re curious about it,
I wrote a full blog post about our chefs kitchen experience at 7132 Silver, read it here.

And the dessert? Let’s just say… I did not share.

The Village

We woke up to mist rolling over the valley.
Everything looked like a painting.

We wrapped ourselves in coats and wandered into the village (Vals).
Stone and wood houses. The smell of woodfire. A tiny café that served the best hot chocolate ever.

Mum laughed at something the barista said,
and I froze that image in my mind instead of my camera.

After our little stroll, we took the car up into the mountains.
Winding roads, golden light, and that feeling of freedom only the Alps can give.

We drove all the way to the Zervreila Staumauer and Stausee, almost 1,860 metres above sea level,
where the view opened into a turquoise lake surrounded by peaks and…. very strong wind.

It was one of those drives where you don’t talk much….
you just look, breathe, and whisper wow every few minutes.

I told you…. very strong wind!

What This Stay Meant to Me

This trip wasn’t just a getaway.
It was a reminder that luxury doesn’t have to be loud.
Sometimes it’s just space.
Silence.
Presence.

That weekend wasn’t about ticking off experiences,
it was about being.

And that’s exactly why this 7132 Vals review will always hold a special place in my heart.

Because this Swiss Alps hotel isn’t about bling bling,
it’s about peace.

If you ever need a place to recharge,
to breathe again,
to feel both small and infinite at the same time….
go to 7132 Hotel Vals.

Stay a few nights.
Float in the warm water.
Watch the mountains turn gold.
And maybe, if you’re lucky,
you’ll find that same stillness too. 🤍

Anyway…… I’ll be dreaming of that bath tub until I go back…. 🌿✨
