Did we just casually spend a few days living like royalty by the ocean? Yes. Yes, we did. 😌
Honestly, you guys… Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz is one of those places that feels straight out of a storybook. Golden afternoon light, soft sea breeze, marble floors, the scent of fresh roses in the air… and us, wandering around pretending we live there.
And the craziest part? It was our very first time in Biarritz. HOW did we wait this long?!
Okay, quick backstory because it’s just too romantic not to share. Hôtel du Palais was originally built in 1854 by Napoleon III… for his wife Eugénie. She adored Biarritz and basically told him, “Build me a summer villa by the sea.” And voilà, Villa Eugénie was born.
Fast forward to today, and this “little summer villa” is now one of France’s most iconic palaces. Everyone from Coco Chanel and Hemingway to Sinatra and Hollywood stars has stayed here. And now… us. Casual. 😌
Walking through the grand hallways, with chandeliers above and gilded details everywhere, honestly felt like time-travelling. But in the best, most magical way.
Our room was a DREAM. Soft sandy tones, delicate tapestries, antique furniture, and views over the endless Atlantic. Waking up to the sound of crashing waves every morning? Pure bliss.
Also, tell me I’m not the only one who immediately checks the bathroom first thing when entering a hotel room? 😂 Let’s just say… marble everywhere, and I was very happy.
Breakfast was served at La Rotonde (or in-room like we love it!), one of the most beautiful dining rooms we’ve ever seen. With panoramic ocean views and all the French pastries you could wish for. Sitting there with a café crème in hand, watching the waves, was the perfect start to every day.
We also treated ourselves to a little spa time at the Spa Impérial, in partnership with Guerlain. Because who could resist? The pool, sauna, and treatments were heavenly, and there’s even an option to have an oceanfront massage in summer.
One of our favourite moments? Sipping cocktails on the terrace at sunset, with the ocean turning golden right in front of us. Bar Napoléon III is also perfect for a nightcap. Think velvet chairs, crystal chandeliers, and expertly crafted drinks.
If you’re wondering whether Hôtel du Palais is worth a visit, absolutely yes. Whether you dream of a romantic escape, a luxurious spa break, or a beachside retreat with serious history, this is the place.
Our must-dos:
Staying at Hôtel du Palais felt like stepping into a world of elegance, charm, and calm. It’s one of those places that makes you pause and soak in every beautiful moment.
So if you find yourself in Biarritz, don’t miss this gem… and who knows, maybe we’ll meet again there, watching the sunset overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Disclaimer: We were kindly invited to stay at Hôtel du Palais by Hyatt France, but as always, all words and opinions are entirely our own.
